Some of you may also know him as the voice and likeness for Starkiller from the Star Wars: Force Unleashed video games. Sam will be on to talk about the current happenings in the second season of Being Human, and we may just get him to give his 2 cents on Episode I in 3D as well.

As if I’m not excited enough about this three day weekend (a BIG thank you presidents!), MTV Geek was lucky enough to score for all you Clone Wars fans this exclusive clip showing “Being Human” hottie Sam Witwer as the voice of Darth Maul!! Sam’s no stranger to the Clone Wars series as he previously played the voice of The Son in The Mortis Trilogy. He also has played the role in LucasArts The Force Unleashed and TFU2! Sam has made it clear to all his that he is a HUGE Star Wars fan! #SAWEET. Oh and he’s the lead singer in his band The Crashtones. Oh and he was also in that other little sci-fi series I love, Battlestar Galactica. All in all Mister Sam Witwer = perfection.

I did a Q+A with Sam earlier this year and can that guy possibly get any dreamier?? He is so sweet and his perfect body could kill an army of clones, NO JOKE.

Forget Edward and Twilight – We’ve Got a New Favorite Vamp: Being Human‘s Sam Witwer

Our new favorite vampire, Sam Witwer from SYFY‘s Being Human stopped by SELF! A visit from Sam Witwer would make a grey February day brighter no matter what. But, as a geek girl, it was even more fun because I’ve enjoyed watching him in everything from Smallville, to Battlestar Galactica, to AMC’s The Walking Dead and now, I love Being Human.

Here are some highlights from our chat:

On his Being Human co-stars:
Sam said that he and Sam Huntington (Josh) and Megan Rath (Sally) had such immediate chemistry that in the first season, the producers asked them to tone it down at first because they didn’t seem like three…beings…who just met. “We adore hanging out,” he shared, and mentioned that they even all went on vacation together – along with Lost star Mark Pellegrino – to Hawaii after the first season wrapped. He also talked about the fact that the BBC series on which SYFY’s Being Human is based eventually led Aidan and Sally into a relationship, but he doesn’t see that happening on their version. “I play it more like I’m her older brother. Josh and Sally are more like siblings who are close in age, bickering all the time.”

On working out:
Since Aidan, Sam’s character, was (trying desperately to keep) abstaining from feeding off live humans the first season, Sam kept his weight training to smaller weights and more reps. “I didn’t want to get to big, I thought Aidan should stay leaner,” he explained. This season goes a little darker and while he wouldn’t fully divulge any spoilers, he did indicate that he upped the weights to give Aidan a brawnier look.

On his off-set diet:
Like his alter-ego, Sam tries to stay away from red meat, choosing sushi instead and usually starting the day with fruit and yogurt. He also stays away from coffee, but will grab a Red Bull once in awhile to keep going to during night shoots. “I also tend not to drink and I don’t smoke,” he said, when asked about his healthy habits.

On his predilection for genre roles:
“I have this Cro-Magnon brow that makes it look I’m brooding even when I’m not. I’m happy right now, but I look brooding,” he laughed, trying to explain how often he gets cast as troubled, powerful and supernatural sorts. When I asked about the scrapped plan to feature the back-story for the zombie-fied soldier he played in  The Walking Dead in the Season 2 opener, he said he thought it was a cool idea that he was sorry he didn’t get to play out with his “buddy,” TWD former director Frank Darabont.

On BH vs. Twilight etc:
We talked with the Julliard trained actor about BH’s flair for inserting moments of levity in even the darkest episodes. Sam thought it was one of the things that makes the tone of the show stand apart from other popular vampire fare (Edward really isn’t much with the funny, is he?) and said that while a lot happens this season that makes him feel badly for his character, they do find a way to keep some humor in there. Also, he discussed how on his show “vampires urge to drink live blood is really a clear metaphor for drug addiction. The trouble happens when Aidan slips back into his old ways.”

What could be sweeter than a father and child reunion? Well, if Dad is Being Human’s brutal bloodsucker Bishop (Mark Pellegrino) then, basically anything!  Bishop may have been decapitated last season by Aidan (Sam Witwer), the vampire he sired centuries ago, but dead or not, on February 20th he’s back.

The onetime Boston vampire capo returns to Syfy‘s addictive supernatural show as a hallucination to haunt the troubled Aidan. He’s also seen in flashbacks, including during World War I, as pictured below.

In an episode all about family bonds, Bishop is quite happy to offer paternal advice as Aidan must deal with the unexpected and unwelcome appearance of his own rebellious “son” Henry (Kyle Schmid), who decades earlier had betrayed his maker by bedding the vampire princess Suren (Dichen Lachman). We’ll have to wait to find out whether father knows best.

One thing we are certain of, no one plays a devious bogeymen — Lost‘s Jacob and Supernatural‘s Lucifer come to mind — than the hard-working Pellegrino. It might be cruel, but we hope Aidan can’t get Bishop out of his mind.

Being Human airs Mondays at 9/8c on Syfy.

Syfy Renews Being Human and Face Off

Syfy has renewed two of its current hits — Being Human, and the reality competition Face Off — for third seasons.

The Being Human pick-up comes just four weeks into the supernatural drama’s sophomore run, airing on Mondays at 9/8c. To date, viewership for Season 2 has increased 15 percent in total audience and by an impressive 27 percent in Adults 18-49.

“With the success of Season 2, Being Human has become a premier destination for Syfy viewers,” network boss Mark Stern said in announcing the news. “Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke have taken this series to new heights this year and we’re excited to see where the third season will go.”

Face Off, which is currently unspooling its Season 2 on Wednesdays at 10 pm, most recently delivered a series high of more than 2 million total viewers, with 1.2 mil of ‘em falling into the coveted 18-49 category. Production on the 10-episode Season 3 will begin this spring, with an eye on a summer launch.

Whether he’s in scrubs, covered in blood or in a silly ’70s costume, Being Human’s broody vampire nurse Aidan is hot. So it should come as no surprise that the actor who plays him in the SyFy version of the BBC show, Sam Witwer, isn’t too picky when it comes to his clothing. “If it’s comfortable, I wear it,” he told us when he stopped by the VH1 office before appearing on Big Morning Buzz Live today. We think his comfort deserves a second look.

There was no fancy stylist helping Sam today, so he actually had to take off his jacket and look at the label to determine it’s Kenneth Cole. His scarf is London Fog. He already knew that he was wearing Diesel jeans and a Last Exit to Nowhere shirt, so to our disappointment, he didn’t have to strip to find those labels. He was also pleased to show off his Vibram boots, which are thankfully not of those icky toe-displaying variety.
